How to Make Vegan Double Chocolate Chip Cookies
I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised to learn how easy these cookies are to make. With just a few simple ingredients, these cookies will be ready to devour in no time!
The first thing you’ll want to do is gather everything you’ll need. There’s nothing worse than starting a recipe only to realize halfway through that you’re missing a few ingredients. Once all items have been accounted for, you’re ready to begin! Preheat your oven to 350ยฐ. While the oven is warming, you can start by creating your flax egg.
To make a flax egg, you’ll simply combine your ground flaxseed meal and water together as instructed in the recipe card. Set this aside until needed to thicken.
In a large bowl, add your vegan butter and brown sugar. Cream these two ingredients together until the results appear whipped. This should take 2-3 minutes. Next, add in the dry ingredients (baking soda, baking powder, salt, flour, cocoa powder) and wet ingredients (vanilla extract, flax egg). Mix all of these ingredients together until fully incorporated.
Is your dough still crumbly? Add some unsweetened almond milk (or alternative plant milk) to the bowl and continue to mix until a dough is formed. Now that you’ve created a dough, fold your chocolate chips into it until all of the chips have been pressed in. Grab your cookie scoop to transfer the dough to a baking pan lined with parchment paper, giving them enough space so that they have plenty of room to spread.
For a more professional look, feel free to roll each piece of dough between the palms of your hands to form a smooth ball. Next, add a few more chocolate chips around the outside of each cookie dough ball to be sure you can see the chips when they’re finished baking.
Transfer your Vegan Double Chocolate Chip Cookies to the oven and let them bake for 12 – 14 minutes. Once they’re finished, remove them from the oven and garnish them with salt flakes (optional). Allow them to cool for a few minutes and you’re ready to enjoy!

Nope, so be on the lookout! Some chocolate chip brands include milk in their ingredients so it’s important to read the package before purchasing. I typically purchase my vegan chocolate chips at Sprouts, Trader Joe’s, or Whole Foods.

I don’t know about you, but I’m always in a hurry to bake my cookies so if I don’t have to chill my cookie dough I don’t! These cookies are just fine going straight into the oven, but if you think yours need to chill for a bit, 30 minutes should do the trick.
