Vegan Peach Crisp

Easy Vegan Peach Crisp [+VIDEO]

Another summer is almost at its end and as always, I’m sad to see it go. However, I am looking forward to cooler days because this 90+ degree weather ain’t where it’s at! As we say goodbye to summer, I wanted to be sure to share this Easy Vegan Peach Crisp recipe with you.

I’ve simplified it as much as possible so you can throw it together in a snap using just a few basic ingredients you likely have lying around already. This recipe also uses canned peaches so that you’re free to make it year-round if you get the urge.

Plus, it’s just easier. Fresh peaches are great, but there’s nothing quite like popping open a can and being done!

How to Make an Easy Vegan Peach Crisp

To make this Easy Vegan Peach Crisp, you’ll start by preparing your peach filling. Drain each can of peaches until most of the liquid has been removed. Transfer the peaches to an appropriately sized baking dish and along with a little cinnamon and the cornstarch + water mixture.

Wondering what the cornstarch + water mixture is for? This will help to thicken the peach filling while the dish is baking. If you’re thinking about leaving it out, think again!

Not only will the mixture help to thicken the peach filling, it will also keep the crumb topping sitting on top of your peaches nicely and prevent it from sinking. Trust me, I’ve learned from experience!

Once you’ve added the peaches, cornstarch and cinnamon to your baking dish, give it a good stir to combine everything. Set it aside and prepare to make your crumb topping.

How to Make the Crumb Topping

The crumb topping is my FAVORITE part of this Vegan Peach Crisp! It’s buttery, perfectly sweetened and a little crispy. To make it, you’ll start by combining all of the dry ingredients together in a large bowl, then add in your softened vegan butter that has been cut into pats (aka 1 tablespoon pieces).

To work in the vegan butter, use the back of a fork to repeatedly press it into the dry ingredients. Do this until it results in a crumbly mixture.

Alternatively, you can make this crumb topping in a high-speed blender or food processor. Simply add all of the ingredients to the container and pulse until crumbly. Note that you may also need to use a spoon to scrape down the sides occasionally.

Now that your crumb topping is made, spread it evenly over the peaches in your baking dish and transfer it to the oven to bake for about 45 minutes or until your crumb topping is golden brown. Once it’s finished, let it cool for a few minutes and enjoy!

Can I Use Fresh Peaches to Make this Vegan Peach Crisp?

Yes! You can definitely use fresh peaches for this recipe. The only reason I didn’t was because I was too lazy. If using fresh peaches, peel and slice enough so that you have about 5 cups.

How Do I Peel Fresh Peaches?

The easiest way to peel fresh peaches without having to use a knife or peeler is to do the following:

  1. Bring a large pot of water to a boil.
  2. Reduce the heat until it’s simmering, then add each of the peaches in and let them sit for about 30-40 seconds in the hot water.
  3. Immediately transfer the peaches to an ice water bath in order to stop them from continuing to cook.
  4. To peel, pinch a section of the peach’s skin and peel back.

Once all of your peaches are peeled, you can use a knife to cut them in half, then twist (like you would an avocado) to retrieve the pit in the center. Slice each of the halves into quarters.

Can this Peach Crisp Recipe be Reheated?

Unfortunately I haven’t had the best luck getting this Easy Vegan Peach Crisp dish reheated to its former glory. There’s nothing quite like that buttery, crunchy sweet topping that you get when this dish is fresh out of the oven. I tried reheating it in the microwave, the oven and even the air fryer to no avail.

That said, this is the perfect dish to take along to a get together with family and friends because it’s sure to disappear quick and you won’t have to worry about reheating it!

I know you’ll love this Easy Vegan Peach Crisp! The crumb topping is perfectly sweetened, crispy and buttery. Coupled with warm peaches, how could you possibly go wrong? Give this recipe a try and let me know what you think in the comments below!

I made this for my husband because he LOVEs peach cobbler and he’s trying to transition to vegan. It was a HIT!! He loved it, and he’s an extremely picky eater. This recipe was also really simple to make and I had most of the ingredients at home already so that was a major plus! I give this recipe 5 stars…highly recommend
