How to Make Easy Vegan Oreo Rice Crispy Treats

Making these Vegan Oreo Rice Crispy Treats is super easy. To start, add 4 tablespoons of vegan butter to a large pot. Once the vegan butter has started to melt, add in the bag of marshmallows along with the vanilla extract and salt to the mixture. Be sure to stir frequently. I would also recommend using a non-stick pot so that you don’t have to deal with a big sticky mess.

Once the marshmallows have cooked down and are visibly melted, remove the pot from the heat and stir in the crushed Oreo cookies and crispy rice cereal. Stir this mixture until well combined. During this step, I would recommend using a silicone spatula so that the mixture doesn’t stick as you stir.

Now that everything has been stirred together, line your 8×8 baking dish with the remaining tablespoon of vegan butter. Simply melt it in a microwave safe dish for a few seconds and use a brush to coat the inside of the baking dish you intend to use. Alternatively, you could line the baking dish with parchment paper for easy retrieval.

Allow your Vegan Oreo Rice Crispy Treats to set for about 20 minutes or so or until the mixture has cooled. Once the mixture has cooled, you can cut the Vegan Oreo Rice Crispy Treats however you’d like. I opted to cut them into 9 pieces to make large and thick treats.

How to Dip Rice Crispy Treats

I opted to dip these Vegan Oreo Rice Crispy Treats in white chocolate for two reasons– one being I’m a little extra at times and the second reason being that I had some hangin’ out in my pantry waiting to be used and this seemed like an appropriate time to do so!

To melt down the vegan white chocolate chips, simply heat them in a non-stick pot over low heat on the stove. They will likely melt pretty quick so be sure to stir them frequently. Once melted, reduce the heat to it’s lowest setting in order to keep warm while dipping each of your Vegan Oreo Rice Crispy Treats. Otherwise, the melted vegan white chocolate will revert and harden again.

Dip each of the pieces in the vegan white chocolate and place them on a sheet pan or other clean surface to allow them to harden. Now would also be a good time to top with additional crushed Oreo cookies if you choose to do so. To get the vegan white chocolate to harden quickly, you can place them in the freezer for about 15 minutes. Be sure not to forget them!

Where Can I Find Vegan White Chocolate Chips?

I found the vegan white chocolate chips I used for this recipe at Walmart, where theyā€™ve added it to their Great Value Brand. Iā€™ve also found a few more options online:

Where Can I Find Vegan Marshmallows?

Believe it or not, traditional marshmallows are not vegan as they contain animal gelatin. Weird right? Who thinks of this stuff?! The good news is, you can find vegan marshmallows for your Vegan Sā€™mores Cookies at Trader Joeā€™s, Whole Foods and Amazon. Dandieā€™s is likely the most popular company for vegan marshmallows. They even make different flavors! You can certainly jazz up this recipe by substituting the traditional mini marshmallows for a flavored version, but the classics are perfect for this recipe.

How Long Will These Vegan Oreo Rice Crispy Treats Last?

These treat will keep in an air tight container on for 3-4 days.

Do I Have to Use Oreos Specifically?

Sure don’t! Though I’ve used Oreo’s for recipes in the past, I chose to use the Trader Joe’s brand of cookies this time around. I’m sure there are other dupes available at other stores. You can also use a completely different cookie all together if you wanted to!
