Eating Out Vegan National Chains

Eating Out Vegan: National Chains

As a food blogger I’m often asked about some of my favorite places to eat while I’m out and about. After getting this request multiple times, I thought it was time that I come up with a list of my favorite places to eat that aren’t specific to the triangle area. However, if you’re looking for places in the triangle, check out this post! Some of the places listed below serve only vegan food, while some are regular restaurants with vegan options. Check them out!

1. Piology

4158 Main at North Hills Suite 103 Raleigh, NC 27609

This place isn’t specific to NC, but I recently discovered it and I’m in love! They have a gluten-free vegan crust that I really enjoy and you’re free to add as many or as few toppings as you would like. The pizza tastes great and I love that you can totally customize it to be however you would like! It’s the perfect place to go with friends and family because there’s something for everyone. Who doesn’t love pizza?!

Reasons I love this place:
– Quick and easy- your food will be ready in a few short minutes!
– Great for vegans and omnivores
– SO GOOD!

2. BurgerFi

3004 Wake Forest, Suite 100, Raleigh, NC 27609

Last summer, I tried the Beyond Burger for the first time and was super impressed. Soon after that it was announced that they would begin serving them at BurgerFi (a restaurant I looo oved as an omnivore) and I was sooooo excited! My family enjoys the occasional trip here and since becoming vegan, I could only enjoy the fries (which are amazing, by the way). Luckily that was about to change! As soon as I heard that my local BurgerFi was selling the Beyond Burger, I had to try it! At the time of the photo taken below, they didn’t have any vegan burger buns available, but the next time I went they did. Needless to say, it was AMAZING! It’s a little pricey, but it’s a splurge that’s worth it every now and then.

Reasons I love this place:
– If you’re trying to watch your carbs, they offer a lettuce bun (that’s really tasty)
– The fries are EVERYTHING and they give you a lot of them!
– Perfect for omnivores and vegans alike!
– The strawberry lemonade (pictured below) is addicting! Don’t forget to refill before you go!

3. Viva Chicken

1617 Elizabeth Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28204
Most of Viva Chicken’s restaurants are in the Charlotte area, but they have a location in Utah so I guess that makes them national, right? Nevertheless, whenever I’m in Charlotte I make it a point to stop by here. I know, I know… the name is totally not vegan-friendly, but the food definitely is! Their bowls and wraps are some of the best I’ve ever had. They’re so simple but packed with flavor! A friend of mine introduced me to this place last year and I’ve been hooked ever since. I pray that they decide to expand and bring one of these to the triangle area. I would be there weekly! Pictured below is their Inca Wrap which consists of cilantro infused rice, canary beans, salsa sriolla, and avocado. I paired it with their Maracuya juice (passion fruit juice). SO GOOD!!

Reasons I love this place:
– Menu that’s easily veganized
– Quick!
– Super tasty signature sauces to pair with your food
– Their in-house lemonades/juices are amazing, so don’t skip out on them!
– FRIES! Some of the best fries in the land!

4. Red Robin

7860 Alexander Promenade PI, Raleigh, NC 27617

Before I started eating plant based, I used to frequent Red Robin all the time! Have I mentioned how much I love fries? Well, any place that serves bottomless fries is a friend of mine! Red Robin sells Boca burgers and they’re pretty tasty! To my knowledge, you can swap out any burger on their menu for a Boca patty, but be sure to adjust the toppings accordingly (cheese, mayo…etc.). Also, don’t be like me and forget to ask for a whole wheat bun! I completely forgot! This is a great place to eat when you’re out with friends or family because there’s something for everybody, so everyone leaves happy 🙂

Reasons I love this place:
– Easily customized burgers
– BOTTOMLESS FRIES (amongst other bottomless sides)
– Something for everyone!

 5. Starbucks

Anywhere!
I’m not a huge Starbucks person (I’m super frugal and would rather spend money on food if I’m going to dine out ), but every now and then I’ll find myself in Starbucks testing out their drinks. They recently started offering more milk substitutes like almond, coconut, and soy which completely changed the game! This is great news, but ordering from Starbucks can still be a little tricky because some of the pre-made mixes that they use for certain drinks contain animal products so you gotta be on the lookout! The best thing to do is to check out their online menu to figure out what’s what. Not only to they provide you with nutritional info, they’ll also let you swap out the size and choose the milk you would order and the ingredients/nutritional info adjusts with the changes. I also heard recently that they’ll be adding more vegan foods to their menu, so it’s possible that I’ll be frequenting here more often!

Reasons I love this place:
– Quick and easy ordering
– Cool place to hang out and work or blog (free wifi)
– Tasty flavors

 6. Brixx

8511 Brier Creek Pkwy, Raleigh, NC 27617

Did you know that Brixx serves vegan cheese (Daiya)?! Well, if you didn’t now you know! They have a lot of pizzas with designated toppings, but recently found out you can also build your own (just ask your waiter). Pictured below is the margarita pizza with Daiya. I also enjoy their jerk chicken pizza (minus the chicken). Which ones have you tried?

Reasons I love this place:
– Plenty of options
– Customizable
– It’s pizza, I’m obsessed.

7. Yard House

4208 Six Forks Rd c110, Raleigh, NC 27609
And last, but not least… YARD HOUSE! Love this spot! Would you believe me if I told you they serve an entire Gardein menu?! Well folks, it’s true. In addition, they also have vegan cheese (Daiya). Some items require a little adjusting (ask them to remove the mayo, some items come with real cheese, ranch etc.), but their minor. Pictured below is the grilled chicken & avocado sandwich with fries. It was supposed to come with swiss cheese and mayo, but I swapped out the cheese for Daiya and told them to 86 the mayo. Easy, right?! Yard House is the only place I know that carries a wide variety of Gardein and I couldn’t be more thankful that they exist! Have you been here? What should I order next time?!

Reasons I love this place:
-Reasonably priced
-Good selection of vegan options
-Good for groups- something for everyone!
