Chickpea Tuna-Less Sandwich

  • 2 cans chickpeas drained and rinsed
  • 1 1/4 tsp old bay seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 3/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 red onion diced
  • 2 celery stalks diced
  • 4 tbsp sweet relish
  • 3-4 tbsp vegan mayo
  • bread for serving


  • Begin by adding the chickpeas to a large bowl along with all seasonings. Mix together. 
  • Using a potato masher, begin mashing all of the chickpeas until most of them are smashed (there may be a few whole ones left). 
  • Add in the red onion, vegan mayo, celery, and sweet relish. Mix well.
  • Eat as a sandwich, alone, or with crackers! Enjoy!
